Drew Hartigan  – President

What Brought You to Southern MD?:  The Navy brought us to Southern Maryland – against our will at the time – 15 years ago.

Job Title and Employer:  I work for a predictive analytics company called Lone Star Analysis.

Activities:  In my free time I raise children.  Once they move out, I raise animals.  Animals are easier.

Judy Kowalik  –   Vice President 

Family Life:   Married to Robert Kowalik for 21 years.  4 Children—Amanda, 20; Matthew, 18; Samantha, 16; Kristina, 16

What Brought You to Southern MD?:  Marriage and Work—Rob’s job in Warminster, PA was transferred to Patuxent River.

Janet Henderson – Secretary

Married for 31 years to Chris, raised 4 girls, enjoying three grand kids. Youngest daughter a freshman at Emerson College in Boston

Reside in Leonardtown, MD. Grew up in Minnesota where I met my husband in Minneapolis. We led a military life and not long after retirement moved to Leonardtown, MD where my husband received a job on base. I spent several years working for the post office and am currently employed at Calvert health Department as a front desk clerk/receptionist.

I began attending Good Samaritan Lutheran Church around 8 years ago with my two youngest children as the older ones had already begun their adult life elsewhere. I currently hold the position of Secretary with the Good Sam Council and am in the second year of my term.

I love roller skating, walking, singing, writing, and reading. I enjoy going to Busch Gardens, museums, and parks.

What Brought You to Southern MD?: To have our children enjoy their grandparents are years of physical separation due to military commitment.

John Jewell – Member At-Large

Family Life:  Live happily with my soulmate Sandra German-Vasquez in the Wildewood area of the county.  We enjoy our children and grandchildren, even though most of them live in other parts of the country.  I am originally from Billings Montana and Sandra is from Jacksonville Florida.

What Brought You to Southern MD?:  I moved to Southern MD in 1991 from Norfolk VA to work for a local DOD contractor after retiring from the U. S. Navy.

Job Title and Employer: Retired E-2C Hawkeye/P-8A Poseidon System Engineer

Activities:  Being retired is a relatively new experience for me, but I like it.  I like to play on my tractor either moving dirt, gravel, trees, or plowing snow.  I am learning how to use my wood lathe and band saw.  We get to travel more as I am always ready to go and so we plan trips and excursions around Sandra’s availability.  Planning on doing some fishing and camping this coming year, if I get all my other chores done.  We are also in the process of remodeling our older house by doing a project each year for the next few years until we bring the house into a more modern era.

Family Life:  Married to George Koebke, mother of  Megan (28) and Son in Law Andrew, Chelsea (25), and Gregory (13)

What Brought You to Southern MD?:   Teaching career with SMCPS after graduating from Westminster College in New Wilmington, PA

Alvin Frazier – Member At-Large

Family Life:  Married to my lovely wife Elaine since 1976.  We have 3 children and 4 grands; Guy Frazier and wife Cyd Frazier who reside in Keller TX with their 2 sons Chance and Grayson, Erik Frazier and Corrine Crimmins and their daughter Sophie Frazier living in Lexington Park MD, and Anna Frazier and her son Geontae Wright who resides in California MD. I am the 11th of 13 children born and raised by my parents Oregon and Edith Frazier (deceased). I was born in 1955 in Allendale SC.

Town Where You Live:  Leonardtown MD

What Brought You to Southern MD?:  Our family located to Saint Mary’s county in 1981 after I separated from US Navy after serving 6 years as an Electronics Technician. I was employed as a Field service engineer at NESEA St. Inigoes upon arriving here. I continued military service as a Navy Reservist until 2004.  1981 until present I have been employed by various entities supporting DOD warfighting efforts.

Job Title and Employer:  Currently I am employed with NAWCAD Patuxent River MD and I’m also a licensed Realtor with Home Towne Real Estate

 Gail Wathen Member At-Large

Family Life: I’m  married with three adult children and three grandchildren whom I adore.  I am also blessed to have my 90-year old mom living with me. We have three four-legged members of our family who amuses us on a daily basis.  We enjoy the beach any time of year and football season.

Town Where You Live: Callaway

What Brought You to Southern MD?: I came to SOMD because of a job offer at the Holiday Inn in Solomons as their Project Director.  It gave me an opportunity to be closer to my mom and family who lived in Baltimore.  I stayed with that position for a while before accepting another job at Channel 10 where I did layout  and design of the Best Buys Magazine and content writer for a publication designed for The National Chambers of Commerce.  This was a separate venture on behalf of the owners of Channel 10.  When my husband started his business, I left my job to help him.  This gave me more time to pursue my passion in the health and fitness world which I had been a part of since 1986.

Job Title and Employer: I am self-employed and have a business called, Breath of Hope Yoga.  My partner and I work independently with, and conduct retreats for people who have cancer and other chronic illness. We also offer teacher trainings and continuing education CEU’s for yoga instructors and health care professionals who are interested in using yogic techniques with clients/patients.  I also conduct meditation workshops, Enhance Fitness instruction, and speciality yoga classes for the St Mary’s County department of Aging.

Activities: I love music and enjoy playing with JRP at Good Sam. This for me is not only worship but therapeutic as it allows me to tap into a part of me that needs to be expressed.   I also enjoy walks on the boardwalk in OC where I find myself engaging with all kinds of interesting people and where I can just sit my the ocean and meditate.

 Paige Marino Youth Representative

Family Life: Daughter of John and Corinne Marino, my siblings are Antonio and Julia Marino. My grandparents also attend GSLC, they are Chuck and Ginger Latyak.

Town Where You Live: I live in California

What Brought You to Southern MD?: I was born here, and it is where my parents live.

Job Title and Employer: I go to Leonardtown High School and I am in 11th grade.

GSLC Member Since: I was baptized in 2000 and have been a member ever since, so my whole life.

Activities: I run and sometimes create slides for the 11:00 service and participate in Senior High Youth group as well as babysit when needed. Prior to two services, I helped set up communion and fellowship with my grandmother.*
