Fundraiser Event for St. Mary’s Caring — April 14

St Marys Caring logoCome enjoy inventive food, wine from small producers, classic cocktails with a twist, and craft beers. Live auction of four special items. Musical Interlude.

Date: April 14, 2015 — 6:30 to 9 pm

Location: Elements-Eatery & Mixology in Lexington Park  (Dress: Business Casual)

Donation: $75 per person (limited to 80 participants).

Because of the generosity of Northrop Grumman, Brad Schell of Raymond James Financial, Smartronix, Inc., and Elements-Eatery & Mixology, all donations go directly to The Soup Kitchen.

Mother-Daughter Tea — May 2

daughter_5720cnInviting all ladies, ages 0-100, to come and join us in fellowship to celebrate you. We hope you will join us on Saturday, May 2 at 11 am in our fellowship hall. Our theme for this year is “BLOOM WHERE YOU ARE PLANTED”. Bring something to share for our lite luncheon and tea. Sign-up sheet is in Fellowship Hall. Empty Nest Group — April 10

The Empty Nest small group will enjoy dinner together on Friday, April 10 at the Back Creek Bistro starting at 6 pm. The Bistro is located at 14415 Dowell Rd, Solomons, MD 20688. Their website is http://www.backcreekbistro.com.

If you want to get involved in a small group at Good Sam and belong in the “older generation” of the church this would be a perfect time to find out what our small group is all about! So if your nest has just emptied, been empty for many years, or has always been empty; if you are single or a couple, please join us! All are welcome. Judy Center Bilingual Playgroup – Meeting at Good Sam

The St. Mary’s County Judy Center hosts a Bi-Lingual Playgroup

Playing with your children from birth is one of the most important ways you can help them learn!

Mar-Lu-Ridge Summer Camp — Registration Open Now

We have a wide variety of programming to choose from–something for everyone! Coffee and Conversation — A Way to Share Life and Faith

On Sunday mornings at Good Sam, we gather during the Sunday School hour to visit while our younger ones are in class (10:30 – 11:30). We choose conversation topics based on group interest, current church activities, current world events, or however God is working. We respect each other’s input, debate, listen, learn and get to know one another.

In the near future, expect to see opportunities to lead and facilitate on the sign-up sheet that circulates at our Sunday service. You too can help keep this conversation zone alive and thriving. We hope you will join us for this sharing of life and faith at Good Sam.

Collecting Donations for the Easter Egg Hunt

egg_5604cGood Sam’s annual Easter egg hunt will be on Palm Sunday (March 29) during Sunday School for all children up to 4th grade. Donations of candy (small, individually-wrapped candy that can fit in a 2″ egg) and plastic eggs can be left in the church office for this event. Please drop off all candy by Sunday, March 22 as we will be filling the eggs during the soup supper on Wed. March 25. Please mark on your bag that it is for the Easter egg hunt.

Also – there will be NO Sunday School on Easter Sunday (April 5). If you have any questions, please talk to Ginger L.

Lutheran Campus Ministry: “Looking Back & Looking Forward: A 50-Year Celebration!” — May 2

Lutheran Campus Ministry at the University of Maryland is very excited to announce “Looking Back and Looking Forward: A 50 Year Celebration!” We will be honoring Pr. Elizabeth Platz’s 50 years of work with the ministry and her incredible legacy as the first woman ordained in the ELCA, as well as looking to what the next 50 years of campus ministry at the University of Maryland will bring.

This celebration will take place Saturday, May 2, at 2:30 p.m. at St. Luke Lutheran Church: 9100 Colesville Road, Silver Spring, MD 20910.

Hard Corps: A Benefit Concert for Lutheran Volunteer Corps will be taking place Sunday, April 18, at 4:00 p.m. at Hope Lutheran Church in College Park (4201 Guilford Drive, College Park, MD 20740). Please join us for an afternoon of great music for an important cause. Fellowship of Families: Parents’ Night Out — March 14

families_6070cnFellowship of Families is having a Parents’ Night Out on Saturday, March 14 at the Olde Town Pub in Leonardtown. The high school youth will be providing childcare in the Fellowship Hall as a fundraiser. The cost is $10 per child for the first 2 children in a family and $5 for each additional child. Children are to be dropped off at 5:30 pm and we will carpool to the pub. We will return by 8:30-9 pm. Children less than a year old are welcome to go out to eat with their parents.
