Empty Nest Group — Dinner & Show, March 6

The Empty Nesters are planning an evening out with dinner and a show on Friday, March 6. Join us for an informal dinner or just the show. The Newtowne Players are presenting the production of Boeing Boeing which includes Good Sam’s Catherine D. as Gretchen. Boeing Boeing is a fun comedy… It’s the 1960s, and swinging American bachelor Bernard couldn’t be happier: a flat in Paris and three gorgeous stewardesses all engaged to him without knowing about each other. But Bernard’s perfect life gets bumpy when his friend Robert comes to stay and a new and speedier Boeing jet throws off all of his careful planning. Soon all three stewardesses are in town simultaneously, timid Robert is forgetting which lies to tell to whom, and catastrophe looms.

We will meet for dinner at Days Off Deli and Grill located at 22608 Three Notch Rd at about 6:30 which will give us plenty of time to be on time for the 8 pm show. It is open seating so we will want to be there when they open the doors if we would like to sit together. The Three Notch Theatre is the former Lexington Park Library and is located at 21744 South Coral Drive in Lexington Park. Tickets for the show are $15 for adult general admission or $12 for Senior/Military/Group. If you let us know by Wednesday, March 4 we will be able to get the group rate for the show. Contact Jill W. with questions or to let us know you are attending: emptynesters@goodsamlutheran.com.

Stitching Sisters news — Jan. 2015

shawl_6008c(Written January 3)

We had a very nice knit-crochet gathering on Tuesday, December 30. Maureen was the hostess and made the most wonderful raspberry scones with white chocolate. We welcomed Shawna F. to our group. And we were very happy to have Torie B. with us while she is on college break. There were five of us present.

Since our last meeting, we have given a prayer shawl to Tracy G. and also, to Ginger L.’s friend in TOPS.

We want to give a great big thank you to Ele B. who hosted our Christmas picnic on December 8. Her Buche de Noel was such a delicious memory. And Pastor Mitch, Shannon and Sara came by to say hello. We had an ornament exchange and played 5 rounds of bingo. Thanks Kim for providing the prizes for bingo.

We all agreed that Tuesday afternoons can work for us in the new year. I passed around a “hostess” signup sheet for winter/spring. I will cover January 13 and Maureen H. signed up for January 27. We will get the remaining dates at the next knit-crochet.

We want to thank Shawnna and Gloria M. for babysitting sweet Sara on our mid-holiday gathering.

The upcoming dates are: January 13, January 27, February 10, February 24, March 10, March 24, April 14, April 28, May 12, and May 26. I will get these posted at the church.
