May 31 was a full day for Fellowship of Families. After sponsoring the Playground Blessing and BBQ event, they all gathered at Leonard Hall for a Skating Free-for-all. Skating is an event where verbs abound. There was; laughing and smiling, slipping and falling, hand holdings and mutual support. Old and young, able and learning, beginners and those more advanced all enjoyed the round and round of it all. Most of us remembered to go counter-clockwise. We skated until the final minute of our time and took a group shot of those who were present as the fun concluded. It was a full day for the kids, parents and grandparents alike.
Our new playground has arrived and is in storage until spring. If you would like to be part of planning the next phase please join us in the Fellowship Hall at 10:30 on Sunday, March 8. We will be discussing demolition, installation, schedule, and logistics. This is a very exciting project for Good Sam and all are welcome and encouraged to take part.
We will be celebrating the feast of Epiphany at Good Sam on January 4 and all children are invited to help us mark the occasion. On Epiphany we remember the journey of the magi to bring gifts to the baby Jesus. We will mark the event again this year with an Epiphany parade.
All Sunday School-age children (and younger) are invited to come dressed as kings, queens, princes, or princesses and process in during the singing of the third Epiphany carol: “We Three Kings”. Instead of gold, frankincense, and myrrh, they will present the baby Jesus with non-perishable food items for Our Daily Bread Food Pantry. Please join us for this festive celebration! If you have any questions, speak to Shannon A. or any member of the Worship & Music Team.
The Playground Planning Committee is excited to announce that our new playground has been selected and ordered. After careful consideration and evaluation of dozens of playsets, we decided on a Playworld System with two slides, a rock climbing wall, monkey bars, and interactive activities for younger children.
Our playground and coordinating picnic tables will be delivered to and stored at a parishioner’s home until installation in the spring. We will be looking for volunteers to assist unloading the truck on delivery day in January. Plans are also underway for removal of our existing playset and installation of our new playset. If you would like to be a part of the demolition/installation team, please contact Ginger L. or Chris V.
