Many of you are beginning to hear that Shannon has accepted a call as Lead Pastor (to full time ministry) with Peace Lutheran Church in Waldorf.  This last Sunday (Feb 12) we celebrated the rite of Farewell and Godspeed with Shannon, giving thanks for the gifts that Shannon has brought to Good Sam over the last seven years.  We also prayed that her gifts would now be well used among the people and community of Peace Lutheran.

Shannon and I dream about opportunities for Good Sam and Peace to collaborate and learn from each other, as they are ELCA neighboring Congregations along with Saint Nicholas Lutheran in Huntingtown.  Please pray with us about opportunities for doing mission and ministry together with Peace and Saint Nicholas.  This can only add to gifts we already enjoy in faith and ministry.

I feel like ministry here at Good Sam is developing well and God is using our partnership in meaningful and significant ways and I look for this to continue.  Meanwhile, I am very thankful for Shannon’s gifts to be used in a neighboring congregation that will allows us to have our lives in both places.

Good Sam community, thanks for all your efforts that make ministry happen here and please pray for the Anderson-Watney household as we stretch ourselves to invest in ministry in Southern Maryland in new ways.  Certainly, God is up to something!
