“One of t20160728_103215he joys of my retirement has been my involvement with St. Mary’s Caring Soup Kitchen. I love its simple mission: To feed the hungry in St. Mary’s County. I love the idea that anyone can receive a free meal (breakfast and/or lunch) six days a week no questions asked. I love the idea that food is donated by grocery stores, the college, local farmers, restaurants and churches and it is turned into fresh, healthy prepared meals. I love the camaraderie of working with other volunteers to prepare meals for people who are so grateful for a delicious meal. Most of all, I love when 11:30 arrives and I get to pray with our guests and together we thank God for the ways he has blessed us that day.”                                                                                                                                                                               –Sue Venendaal
