PRAYER OF THE DAY  O God of creation, eternal majesty, you preside over land and sea, sunshine and storm. By your strength pilot us, by your power preserve us, by your wisdom instruct us, and by your hand protect us, through Jesus Christ, our Savior and Lord.

Do you ever feel like God is silent or asleep and unaware of your plight?  It seems the disciples of Jesus felt this way on at least one occasion.  How incredulous they are as they approach Jesus, rousing him from sleep to ask if he does not care that they are perishing.
Certainly we want to ask if God is not active and engaged in the activity of our lives, but of course the moment will come when we will be asked by the one who does keep watch, “Do you not as yet have faith?”   Perhaps the strength and power of Jesus in our lives in much larger than we have imagined and the only way to lay open this discovery is to invite Jesus to guide our lives and then accept the adventure as it then unfolds.  This is always the posture of a living faith.
