1st Reading:  Acts 2:1-21
2nd Reading:  Romans 8:22-27

PRAYER OF THE DAY  Mighty God, you breathe life into our bones, and your Spirit brings truth to the world. Send us this Spirit, transform us by your truth, and give us language to proclaim your gospel, through Jesus Christ, our Savior and Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever.

What language do you think is most beautiful?  I used to think it was French.  Lately I love to watch sign language. It is so expressive and evocative, almost like a dance.  Love has it’s own language and vocabulary.  Respect, admiration, affirmation and patience are among the vibrant motions and actions of love.  But love is not simply a language of words, it is primarily a language of action, persistence, faithfulness and resilience.  Becoming fluent in the language of love is a vital activity for those who know God through Jesus and especially for those who are called to share the Good News of God through Jesus Christ.  It is so freeing to love someone through patience without having to convince, instruct, convert or contrive.  This is simply one of the gifts and approaches that are abundant in the language of love.
