PRAYER OF THE DAY   Gracious and glorious God, you have chosen us as your own, and by the powerful name of Christ  you protect us from evil.  By your Spirit transform us and your beloved world, that we may find our joy in your Son, Jesus Christ, our Savior and Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever.

If my faith life is a journey, the question comes up, how do I find my way along.  There are a number of images in scripture that suggest help for this question.  I like the image of hearing the shepherd’s voice. (John 10:27).  Finding my path to a place I haven’t been before can be challenging.  I like the image from Psalm 119:105 (Thy word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path).  I have also learned that finding my way is often about using all my senses and keeping in my minds eye, the broad-scape of my surroundings.  It is not unlike seeing better in the dark.  Have you learned to use your peripheral vision to better detect those things before you, when the light is dim?  Try it!  Finding our way in faith is listening and watching for God’s guidance, as much as it is using all our awareness to find the path forward.
