Raise us up, O God

Suffering,  grief and difficulty seem to swirl around us.  Unless we are cut off from our neighbors and community, we can’t help but see it.  It is therefore sometimes a challenge to see any sign that God is active and working around us.  Mary and Martha experience this in John Chapter 11.

Jesus did come among them as a gift and reminder that we are never out of reach of God’s activity.  Simply out of view and unable to take it in.

We are never out of reach of  God’s passionate mercy and love, we simply don’t imagine it’s depth and power.  In the message of the prophets (Ezekiel 37) and in the life and death of Jesus, the word of the Lord, echoes into our hearts, will reach our ears and over flow into our lives, even when we feel empty and dried up – or as good as dead.
