Week 4: Faith Confessions (Feb. 9)

This week we were able to review a: Hear. Speak. Do. Perspective for audacious faith.

  • Hearing God’s Word initiates our faith.
  • Speaking God’s Word activates our faith.
  • Doing God’s Word demonstrates our faith.
  • We saw this in Peter’s historic water walking adventure.  Ya know, lots of times when this story is told, Peter get’s bashed for his little faith. Before we jump on that band wagon:  How many folks do you know that (literally) walked on water?  Well, there was Jesus and… um… Seems like Ol’ Pete is in a pretty elite group.

We also became ordained to preach to ourselves.  I am excited to hear how this adventure unfolded for those willing…

Next, we’ll review those 12 Audacious Faith Confessions and then move into the difficult topic of what happens when things don’t seem to go our way; When the Sun Goes Down.                       – Dave G.

Week 5: When the Sun Goes Down (Feb. 16)

We took a look at what happens when the sun goes down. Sometimes, when we pray for something, it just doesn’t turn out the way we asked. Instead of the sun standing still in the sky; it goes down. We learned that there isn’t always an answer as to why and that maybe the better question is what. God, what would you have me do in this situation? We learned that sometimes we get to see the miracle (the sun stand still) and sometimes we have to be the miracle (the sun stands still INSIDE us).

Next, we explore the loading dock. How is your prayer life? Are you excited to take your requests to God?  Do you build a case? Are you pushing through while praying? Do you pray, knowing that God will provide what you are asking for? Or is your prayer life kind of boring? Do you offer God opt-out clauses?  Do you not expect Him to intervene for you?

Next we learn to PRAY LIKE A JUGGERNAUT, build our case, and push through while praying. What in the world does this have to do with a loading dock? Guess you’ll just have to come and find out.                                                      – Dave G.

Week 6: Loading Dock (Feb. 23)

This week we took a look at praying like a Juggernaut! (or maybe a crash!) We discussed that in order to know God’s will, we need to know God’s Word. We learned that pushing through is an important part of our prayer lives, and making our case enhances our prayers: We saw this at the loading dock, throughout Scripture, and in our own lives.

Next, we discover the importance of ‘Dressing for the Wedding’. It’s hard to believe this is the last session in our Sun Stand Still adventure. I have personally not been disappointed; your enthusiasm, attendance, comments, questions and audacious faith has been inspiring. This may be our final gathering for this session; but my prayer is, as the wedding is just the beginning of a marriage, that this short adventure is just the beginning of your adventure of seeing God perform the impossible in your lives – seeing the Sun Stand Still.                  – Dave G.
