Easter Dawns Slowly

Not often does the strength and power of Easter come to us in a lightning bolt.

If it did, it might be too much for us. Easter has a way of dawning upon us. Sometimes I’m a little suspicious of people who have had a singular, dramatic and overwhelming experience of Easter.  I know it happens, but Easter also takes time to mature within us.  Even the disciples of Jesus slowly figure out what Easter is and how they know it and how it works its way into their lives and relationships.

Yes, Easter dawns slowly, gradually coming into our conscious awareness.  Two traits that help Easter dawn in our lives more readily are curiosity and prayer.  Curiosity helps open us to the possibilities and prayer engages us meaningfully in what God is doing.  The more fully aware and conscious of Easter and its gifts we are the more we begin to bring its life and hope into our hearts, our relationships and our connections to others.  The more we learn how Easter works in our hearts and our relationships the more convinced we become that Jesus is still about doing the Father’s work today and in our lives.
